K-12 Teaching resources
Resources for pre- and in-service teachers to include environmental education (EE) in their classrooms.
How to do MWEEs with your K-12 classes
A MWEE is a learner-centered framework that focuses on investigations into local environmental issues and leads to informed action. This page contains resources for pre- and in-service teachers. We suggest starting with the MWEE 101 course to understand the basics of MWEEs. Below are three additional resources - issue cards, action projects, and environmental literacy models - which will help as you lead MWEEs with your students.
Faculty can begin to familiarize themselves with MWEEs through the MWEE 101 course and can share with students to build their understanding.
Student Voice
It is important to encourage student voice in the MWEE process to the extent possible. When students are given the opportunity to collaborate and direct their learning, they can be more motivated and engaged. Access student voice resources below.

Issue Cards
These issue cards can be used with your students to explore local environmental issues that can be the basis of a MWEE investigation.
Environmental Literacy Models (ELMs)
ELMs are the blue prints for designing and implementing MWEEs. The link below will give you access to example ELMs, a blank fillable ELM you can download, and videos from faculty about the ELMs.
Action Projects
Action projects are essential to MWEEs and help students address issues in their community while mastering curriculum content and applying what they learned from the outdoor investigation.
