    Join us on a guided hike through Fort Macon State Park’s beautiful landscape! The park has multiple personalities as the site of a perfectly restored Antebellum-era fort, a museum-quality coastal education center, and an unspoiled shoreline for swimming, surf fishing, and beachcombing. Nearly surrounded by water at the eastern tip of Bogue Banks, the park offers undisturbed natural beauty and opportunities to explore and learn about salt marshes, estuaries, and dune fields. The fort has a history as intricate and unique as the ecosystem.

  • Bonehenge Whale Center Insiders Tour

    The Bonehenge Whale Center in Beaufort, NC is a facility from which to base research, exhibit preparation and display, marine conservation, educational programming, outreach, publications, and stranded specimen collection & maintenance that focus on NC cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises), past and present. A member of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, Bonehenge is a truly unique facility managed almost completely by volunteers who are passionate about marine mammal conservation and protecting our oceans. Join us as we learn about the important preservation work they do daily.

  • Registration is very limited and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Alternative field trip options will be offered to those who cannot attend. Per Bonehenge’s request, all attendees must be fully vaccinated against covid19.

  • Duke University Marine Lab Tour

    The Duke University Marine Lab is a year-round coastal campus in Beaufort, N.C. and is home to research, teaching and student life facilities. The Marine Lab strives to be at the forefront of understanding marine environmental systems, their conservation, and their governance through leadership in research, training and communication. During this trip, we will connect with researchers & students to hear about the important contributions they make to marine conservation in their daily research.
