Mid-Atlantic Marine Education Association

MAMEA
is an organization of people whose common goal is to improve education about all aspects of marine and aquatic environments. Members come from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, the District of Columbia, and beyond. We represent many institutions, organizations and programs. MAMEA is a regional chapter of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA).

2023 Annual Conference
The 2023 MAMEA annual conference will be held IN-PERSON November 3-5 in Solomons, MD.

The "What is Hidden in our Waters: Exploring the Historical, Cultural, and Environmental Connections to our Marine World" themed conference will feature:

• Friday evening event at the Calvert Marine Museum
• Saturday conference with invited speakers:
• Dr. Kandis Boyd, Director of EPA's Chesapeake Bay Program
• Dr. Christine Knauss, Univ. of Maryland's Center for Environmental Studies (UMCES)
• Dr. Susan Langley, Maryland State Underwater Archaeologist & Adjust Professor, St. Mary's College
• Jaimie Clare Testa, UMCES, Project Coordinator for Dolphin Watch
• Opportunities for networking, sharing resources & ideas with fellow educators
• Local field trips on Sunday

NC 2023 Mini-Conference

Sea Turtle Exploration Workshop will be October 14, 2023 from 9 am - 4 pm @ NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher
Mini-conference attendees will be participating in a Sea Turtle Exploration: a curriculum to help educators engage students in the fundamentals of STEAM through ready-to-use, standards-based lesson plans and sea turtles. Join us for a hands-on teacher workshop guiding you through sea turtle curriculum and website.
